Looking ahead to 2016 at Popeyes Bahamas Bowl Summit in Nassau

The Popeyes Bahamas Bowl and ESPN Events met with local partners in the Bahamas at the Atlants Bahamas on June 15 to discuss the 2015 game and preview the third-annual bowl to be played in Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016 among representatives of two of the three participating Popeyes Bahamas Bowl conferences: the American Athletic Conference, Conference USA and the Mid-American Conference.

The two-hour session included a review of the 2015 game and its’ impact in the U.S. and the Bahamas, the role of ESPN Events and ESPN for the bowl, a look at the impact student-athletes have had in Nassau and the Bahamas in community relations, a review of television and social media surrounding the bowl, a listing of the major 2016 dates that impact preparations for the bowl, a discussion about all of the local Bahamas elements that made for two successful bowls and how the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl can grow in 2016.

The Popeyes Bahamas Bowl and ESPN Events then held a press conference which included Pete Derzis, Senior VP, ESPN Events, Popeyes Bahamas Bowl Executive Director Richard Giannnini, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Chief Marketing Officer – U.S. Hector Munoz, American Athletic Conference Associate Commissioner Scott Draper, Mid-American Conference Commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher, Bahamas Ministry of Tourism Director General Joy Jibrilu and NSA-Bahamas General Manager Jeffrey Beckles to review 2015 and preview 2016 for the bowl.
