COMMUNITY IMPACT

The HomeTown Lenders Bahamas Bowl is committed to promoting the Bahamas and highlighting the educational and athletic opportunities for the youth of the Islands through college football. Over the years, the bowl has taken numerous initiatives to make a positive impact on the community.

Youth Clinics

Every December, a group of student-athletes from participating teams visit the rugby fields adjacent to the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium to conduct a Youth Football Leadership Clinic in conjunction with USA Football.

With the help of the student-athletes and representatives of the Commonwealth American Football League (CAFL), USA Football conducts its Heads Up Football℠ FUNdamentals clinic, which introduces children to football by teaching basic skills in a FUN and energetic environment. Certified clinicians use a series of drills to show passing, catching and running skills in a non-contact setting.

Children’s Homes

The Bahamas Bowl has also worked in partnership with local children’s homes to provide financial donations and arrange visits from participating student-athletes each December. The Bahamas Youth Hostel and Ranfurly Homes for Children are the beneficiaries, with former sponsor Makers Wanted (Elk Grove, Ill.) providing nearly $50,000 in supplies to Ranfurly in 2019.

Hurricane Relief

Following the devastation of Hurricane Dorian upon the Bahamas in 2019, the two participating conferences in the Bahamas Bowl, Conference USA and the Mid-American Conference, joined with Miami-based Capital One Orange Bowl to donate $75,000 in hurricane relief funding.
