Popeyes Bahamas Bowl 2014 Review/2015 Preview (PDF)
The Popeyes Bahamas Bowl and ESPN Events met with local partners in the Bahamas at the Atlants – Paradise Island on June 10 to discuss the 2014 inaugural game and preview the upcoming bowl to be played in Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium on December 24, 2015 between representatives of Conference USA and the Mid-American Conference.
The two-hour session included an review of the exciting 2014 game and its’ impact in the U.S. and the Bahamas, a review of television and social media surrounding the bowl, the transition to the new bowl structure under ESPN Events, a look at last year’s community relations work and plans for more in the years ahead, a listing of the major 2015 dates that impact preparations for the bowl, a discussion about all of the local Bahamas elements that made for a successful event in 2014 and how the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl can raise that bar in 2015.
The Popeyes Bahamas Bowl and ESPN Events then held a press conference which included Pete Derzis, Senior VP, ESPN Events, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Chief Marketing Officer – U.S. Hector Munoz, Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky, Mid-American Conference Commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher, Bahamas Minister of Youth Sports and Culture Hon. Dr. Daniel Johnson and Bahamas Ministry of Tourism Deputy Director General Tommy Thompson to review 2014 and preview 2015 for the bowl.
As part of the press conference, the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl presented a check for $56,000 to Ranfurly Homes for Children to fund 10 scholarships at the Nassau home.
